GE to Literally Bring Good Things to Light With SmartGrid

gesmartgrid.jpg

The ambitious General Electric has a plan to allow homeowners to cut back their energy consumption to zero by 2015. (We told you it was ambitious.) The SmartGrid project combines solar power and/or wind turbines, energy efficient appliances and on-site power storage. GE's Home Energy Manager, which will retail for less than $250.00, gives detailed data on usage and will manage all appliances by turning them off when not in use. Some of the in-home products will be available this year, with more to reach the market next year.
