Swiss Alpine Solar Lodge

The Swiss Alpine Club has built a mountain refuge that gets 90% of its energy from solar power with the remaining 10% from cooking gas. Located near Zermatt, the edifice uses the melting nearby Gorner, Grenz and Mount Rose glaciers as its water source. With a metal exterior and a wooden interior, the 6.3 million dollar lodge can accommodate 120 visitors.
