etonradio.jpg

Etón has combined an AM/FM/NOAA Weather Radio with a flashlight with 3 LEDs and small electronic charger in its American Red Cross MICROLINK FR160 with 3.5 mm headphone input . At a size of only 5.25", it has its own solar panel so no batteries are needed. It can also be charged via USB or hand cranking in times of an emergency. The case is designed to withstand the elements and rubber gaskets and plugs help keep the radio dry.

Recharge Your Tesla on Highway 101

solarcity.JPG

SolarCity and Rabobank have teamed to construct 4 car charge stations along Highway 101 in California, one of them being solar powered. Eventually the stations, which will run from LA to San Francisco, will all get their power from solar arrays. While the Tesla Roadster is the only car that can use them for now, a plan is in the works so that the stations are good with any EV.

Solio Hybrid Universal Charger

soliohybrid.jpgsollio.jpg

Solar chargers are even better when they are universal, like this one that works with MP3 players, PDAs, portable gaming systems, GPS units, cell phones and digital cameras. The Solio Hybrid Charger can reach a full charge in 4 hours by AC or, after spreading its blades, by solar power in 8 - 10 hours. It will charge your electronics directly from the sun, as an hour of sun provides 50 minutes of tunes or 10 of talk time. The Solio even stores its power for about a year. Such a deal.
